Of all the energy in the universe, the "matter" we know (stars, galaxies, and ourselves) accounts for only about 5%. Another 27% is dark matter, and the vast majority—about 68%—is a mysterious force driving the accelerated expansion of the universe, known as "Dark Energy."
Genius physicists around the world have been trying to uncover the identity of this dark energy, continuously devising complex models like "unknown dark fluids," "quintessence," or "modifications to the theory of gravity."
However, the Intergeometric Theory offers an extremely simple and shocking answer to this ultimate mystery.
Dark energy is neither an unknown substance nor a ghost. It is simply "the energy of the remaining two dimensions that could not become particles, owing to the fact that while space is 3-dimensional, particles can only propagate in a 1-dimensional direction."
1. The Origin of Energy is "Asymmetry"
For "existence" (energy or particles) to be born from an empty vacuum, a geometric "asymmetry" is required. From a state that is perfectly symmetrical and featureless, nothing can be recognized or manifested.
The space of our universe is 3-dimensional (X, Y, Z).
Therefore, the fundamental energy (potential) held by the vacuum exists in each of these three directions, meaning there are "3 units" of energy sources in total.
2. Only the "Direction of Propagation (1D)" Can Become Matter
Imagine the process of "pair creation," where particles are born from the vacuum.
A particle (e.g., a white ball) and an anti-particle (a black ball) are born as a pair and fly off in opposite directions. Let's call the "direction of propagation" along which these particles fly the Z-axis.
When observing these two particles along the Z-axis, one is "white" and the other is "black"—a clear "anti-symmetry (asymmetry)."
This "asymmetry in the Z-direction" is precisely what materialized as information, transforming into what we call "Matter."

3. What Happens to the Remaining "X and Y (2D)"?
Now, let's look at this pair-created particle from the remaining two directions orthogonal to the direction of matter propagation (the X-plane and Y-plane).
Astonishingly, when viewed from the X-axis or Y-axis, the particle and anti-particle move away from the center by the exact same distance, making them appear geometrically "perfectly symmetric."
Being symmetric means that no "information (reality)" can be generated there.

In conclusion, the "2 units" of energy held by the X and Y directions are geometrically incapable of materializing as particles (matter).
Where did the energy of these "X and Y components" that couldn't become particles go?
They didn't disappear. Instead of condensing into points like matter, they remain in the vacuum as a "repulsive potential" that stretches space itself.
This is the true identity of "Dark Energy."
Space is 3-dimensional (3 units).
Of those, only "1 unit" in the direction of propagation can become particles (matter).
The remaining "2 units" in the orthogonal directions become dark energy.
Thus, a pure geometric theorem is derived without any parameter tuning: the fundamental energy ratio of the universe is strictly "Matter 1 : Dark Energy 2."
4. Perfect Proof via Observational Data
This "1:2" ratio is the baseline ratio at a reference time when the universe maintains a beautiful balance (the Standard Hubble Time, \(t_s\)). (We will explain \(t_s\) in [another article].)
However, our current universe has moved forward in time, altering its state:
- Dilution of Matter: The energy density of matter (the 1D component) dilutes in proportion to the inverse square of time \((t_s/t_0)^2\) as the universe expands.
- Decay of the Vacuum: Furthermore, the total energy of the universe is decreasing according to the "cosmic energy decay rate ( \(\chi_0\) )." (See the [Fine-Structure Constant article] for \(\chi_0\).)
Taking these into account, the equations for the current universe's "Dark Energy Ratio ( \(\Omega_{\Lambda 0}\) )" and "Matter Ratio (\(\Omega_{m0}\) " are as follows:
(In the equations,1 represents matter, and 2 represents dark energy.)
\[\Omega_{\Lambda 0}=\frac{2+\Delta\Omega_0}{\chi_0\left(\frac{t_s}{t_0}\right)^2 1+2}\]
\[\Omega_{m0}=\frac{\chi_0\left(\frac{t_s}{t_0}\right)^2 1-\Delta\Omega_0}{\chi_0\left(\frac{t_s}{t_0}\right)^2 1+2}\]
(Note: \(\Delta\Omega_0\) is a "dependent variable" to mathematically correct for non-linear changes due to the universe's accelerated expansion, not a "free parameter" that humans can arbitrarily tune.)
When we substitute the current age of the universe into these pure geometric equations, what is the result?
- Dark Energy (Theoretical): 68.5%
- Matter & Dark Matter (Theoretical): 31.5%
They perfectly match the latest data observed by the Planck satellite (Dark Energy 68.5%, Matter 31.5%) down to the first decimal place.
The universe was not filled with complex dark fluids as humans imagined.
The true identity of what we feared and called "Dark Energy" was nothing more than the energy of the "width and height (X and Y)" of space, left behind so that matter could move "forward (Z)."
